Mass. wood pellet company bringing 45 jobs to Pa. (Greenwich Time)

BOSWELL, Pa. (AP) — A Massachusetts company that makes wood pellets plans to open a plant in southwestern Pennsylvania. First Nation Wood Pellets LLC, plans to open the plant in the Jenner Township business park in Somerset County. That’s near Boswell, about 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

Pa. ice rink’s roof collapses, but no one injured (KVOA Tucson)

ROSTRAVER, Pa. (AP) – The roof of a skating rink partially collapsed while the ice was being resurfaced during a youth hockey tournament Sunday afternoon, but no one was injured. The collapse happened at the Rostraver Ice Garden, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

The roof of a skating rink partially collapsed while the ice was being resurfaced during a youth hockey tournament Sunday afternoon, but no one was injured. The collapse happened at the Rostraver Ice Garden, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Emergency crews searched the building using cadaver dogs and thermal-imaging cameras.

IRWIN — A driver has jumped out of a salt truck seconds before it plunged over a 100-foot western Pennsylvania cliff. The driver was treating a rural road about 20 miles southeast of Pittsburgh when his truck skid on the snowy road. The truck came to a halt at the edge of the cliff.

Money robbed from western Pa. bank mailed back (AP via Yahoo! News)

Someone mailed an envelope filled with money to a western Pennsylvania bank that was robbed earlier this month, and the FBI suspects it was either the repentant robber or an acquaintance of his. Special Agent Jeff Killeen says the returned money doesn’t cancel out the crime that was committed Dec. 9 at the PNC Bank in West Newton, a tiny borough about 20 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

Dish Network to close Pittsburgh-area call center (KJCT 8 Grand Junction)

MCKEESPORT, Pa. (AP) – Satellite TV provider Dish Network says it will close a customer service call center near Pittsburgh, idling 600 workers. Dish Network says the center in McKeesport will close March 5. McKeesport is about 15 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
