I Need Suggestions About Tax Preparation Professionals In Pittsburgh, Pa Who Wouldn’t Charge Huge Fees.?

I moved from India to US on 2nd June and my employer has cut taxes on my salary as if I am an NRA even-though I stayed for > 183 days in US.
My wife and daughter (dependents) are staying with me on H4 visa and hence can’t have SSN. I have to apply for ITIN numbers for them too when I file my returns. I heard that to apply for ITIN I have to get a notary public attest the photocopy of our passports and that we might have to submit some other documents too.
I feel that H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt might charge a lot in cases like mine. Moreover, I am not sure if they are competent in the tax laws for non-US citizens (NRA / Resident) like me.
Please suggest me some tax professional in Pittsburgh, PA who is both knowledgeable about tax laws for foreigners as well as not too costly.
Thanks.

I know that HR Block may seem expensive but remember that they will have at least one office in your area open year round. If they do your taxes and there is a problem later they can assist you. If you have tax questions they will help you at no charge. Your preparation fee entitles you to some year round help. Jackson Hewitt is not open year round so is not available if there is a problem later. If you use a smaller cheaper place that is only open during tax season who will help you later?

Your tax situation is neither unusual nor difficult. It’s not hard to get an ITIN. The preparer can do it for you. Go to H&R Block and request an EA (Enrolled Agent), or someone who does returns like yours frequently. You can ask about the cost before you engage them.

Go to http://www.naea.org and find an Enrolled Agent in your area. I know there are EAs in the ‘burgh who can handle your issues. Just go to the website – find a tax professional – and get the list and make some calls.
